The Good The Iriver P7 is a gorgeous portable video player that packs in music, movies, photos, radio, voice recording, and a text reader. As this 16 GB digital media player features a high-resolution display screen, you can experience bright and clear text, visual details, and images without struggling. Most functions are responsive and intuitive, with cross-fades between screens and large, obvious buttons to take you where you need to go. Other than the power button on the top left and a hold switch on the right side, the player is controlled entirely by touch -- a large improvement over the confusing dual and dueling interfaces of the iriver SPINN. The P7's headphone jack is on the right edge, along with a hold switch, and a microSD memory slot covered by a plastic door. This 16 GB digital media player is capable of keeping up to 2, tunes, allowing you to move all your CDs and music files onto it. In fact, even the plastic carton the P7 is packaged in looks like a design student's graduate project.

The mobile world might finally get exciting again in The Bad For a PVP, the P7 is relatively inflexible when it comes to video format support, the touch-screen response is sluggish, pp7 the included PC software is nearly useless. It's a novel and fun approach to an interface, and while iriver isn't packing in extensive functionality or connected information, it's a far cry from surfing through a boring menu tree with a d-pad. Unlike the iPod Touch's smooth, swift, and responsive song lists, sorting through your music on the P7 requires patience and a precise touch on a slim graphical scroll bar.
